Recipes and Snacks
It's all about the Oatmeal!

Martin's just over the moon for oatmeal, and I kind of have to agree. It's fairly low in points, very filling, and you can make so many different varieties. Give it a try!

Oatmeal Base:

1/2 cup oatmeal (we use Quaker 1 Minute Oats)
    1 cup water

Microwave for 2 minutes or so. Then try one of the following variations:

Apple Brown Sugar
3-4 dried apples ripped into small pieces (place
    in bowl before microwaving)
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
    1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of salt, to taste

Pumpkin
    1/4 cup canned pumpkin
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt, to taste
1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
    1 teaspoon cinnamon

Berry
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt, to taste
Handful of frozen berries, any variety
Microwave the oatmeal an additional 30-45 seconds to defrost the berries.

Chocolate (yes, you read that right)
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
    1/2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt, to taste
    Dash of cinnamon
Snacks and Products

Martin and I are frequently asked what kinds of snacks or particular products we use. Here are a few things we just love:

Better N'Peanut Butter -- love this! I have this everyday on a light whole wheat english muffin. 16 grams of peanut butter with the english muffin=2 points

Go Lean Crunchy Chocolate Carmel Bars -- great on the go snack or just to have as an emergency snack. 2 points

Fiber One Oats and Chocolate bars -- way too yummy to only be 2 points.

Fat Free Pringles -- we eat the sour cream or BBQ flavors.

Light Ruffles Potato Chips -- the cheddar and BBQ ones are favorites.

Turkey Hill Fat Free, Sugar Free -- it's the pink half gallon box.

Fat Free Reddiwip -- whip cream from a can and the whole can is 4 points -- but don't go overboard!

Cookies and Cream Weight Watcher ice cream bars -- if you can find the chocolate ones, they're the best!

Dried fruit: apricots, apples, raisens, unsweetened pineapple, etc. Almonds -- raw

And Elizabeth has a severe addition to Diet Pepsi Vanilla.
